Working out a seminar work of 15 pages of text, with illustratiions, that will present a prominent personality,a collection of works, or a style period of Czech or world architecture of the 20th century,according to one's own choice.

Aims

The objective is to make the doctorands test their theoretical and practical knowledge on the architectural monuments of the city of Brno which, in the first half of the past century, became an importand centre of modern architecture.

Syllabus

The cycle of lectures is divided into four basic parts: Secession period 1895 - 1918; period of search for a new style in the first half of the twenties; heroic period of Brno functionalism in the late twenties and thirties; fading of functionalism after World War II.
The influence of the interwar period on the creative activity of contemporary Brno architects is continuously remembered.
