Building construction I

FAST-AH01Acad. year: 2013/2014

Subject is introduction into problems of building construction, his terminology, classify, structure of design and associated building parts - overall technical system constructions of building.
Subject is representing in all synergic relations towards subsequent parts of subject building construction on separate parts of building and function and use requirements on building as whole.

Department

Institute of Building Structures (PST)

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will acquire basic knowledge of civil engineering. They will learn the terminology, gain knowledge of basic design principles, learn to read drawings of buildings, get the basics of technical plotting and thinking, acquire basic knowledge to design structures.

Prerequisites

Written and graphic level of expression, respect for the most basic medical terminology, basic material knowledge, basic general engineering knowledge, logical thinking.

Co-requisites

Terminology, loading of buildings, material characteristics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The lectures are a lecturing teachers, but also representatives of civil engineering practice. In practice the solution is simple construction project in the form of project documentation house in the degree of planning permission. Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Altogether it is necessary to actively participate the practices, with parallel consultations and submissions of the assigned work (drawings) according to the schedule of practices, which are then required to be handed in together within the credit week in a prescribed manner. To pass the course, it is necessary to get the credit from practices, to obtain more than 60% of the points in the written exam and pass the oral examination.
