Numerical and Statistical Treatment of Experimental Data

Information about basic statistical methods to experimental data processing. Basics of combinatorics and teory of probability.Definition of random quantities and their characteristics. Distribution of random quantities. Statistical and selected data properties. Statistical hypothesis testing. Parametric and non-parametric tests.. Errors of measurement.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Integral information on fundamental methods of numerical treatment
of one-dimensional data, fundamental methods of numerical treatment of
simple dependences and data smoothing.
Practical utilization of acquired piece of knowelge in experimental
data processing from selected thematic fields in MS-Excel environment.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course uses teaching methods in form of Lecture - 2 teaching hours per week. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Successful in five tests over the semestral course. Subjects of test are: probability of random events, parameters of distribution, distribution function, parametric and not parametric statistical tests.

Replenishment and acquisition of new theoretical information and practical know-how necessary for numerical processing of data acquired by own experimental activities.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
