Psychology and Sociology of Work

The teaching subject can contribute to improving of student´s social and psychological competence. Human personality, mental processes, perception, memory, vigilance, thinking. Mental qualities, temperament, character, abilities. Social communication, active listening in, strategy of conflict solution. Assertive behaviour, techniques of assertive behaviour. Typology of social groups, role, position, prestige, status, norms, values, social control, culture, socialisation. Contemporary Czech society. Sociology of family, work, work satisfaction. Practical applications of methods and techniques of sociological research (e.g. questionnaire etc.) .

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will obtain the basic knowledge of personality in connection with surrounding environment and some sociological fundamentals of society life.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge in social sciences on the level of secondary school.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course uses teaching methods in form of Lecture - 2 teaching hours per week. The e-learning system (LMS Moodle) is available to teachers and students.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Students must pass 2 written tests (part psychology + part sociology) and must obtain the given point minimum in every test.

Aims

The main objective of the psychological part of the course is to make students acquainted with basic personality dispositions, effecting working activities and with the most important social-psychological activities within the communication with surrounding environment.
The main objective of the sociological part is to provide students with sociological point of view considering the social and economical milieu and make them acquainted with basic sociological problems.
