Ecology in Healthcare

Fundamental ecological concepts and laws, strategy of permanetly sustainable life, ecotoxicology and physical aspects of the environment. Attention is paid to environmental monitoring and the highest acceptable doses, protection from harmful effects of chemicals and physical fields. Hygiene of the working environment and safety of work in medical institutions. Integrated rescue system, management of waste from medical institutions and evaluation of environmental impacts.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

An awareness of environmental issues substantially influences attitudes of engineers to the environment and improves their qualifications for work in medical institutions.

Fundamental ecological concepts and laws, chemistry and environmental toxicology, physical aspects of the environment. Monitoring of basic environmental parameters, the highest acceptable concentrations of harmful substances and physical fields. Workplace hygiene in medical institutions. Health of the population. Integrated rescue system. Management of waste from medical institutions.
