Organization of Work and Remuneration System

The course familiarises students with the following topics: Function of the salary in a company management system, its categories and development. Creation of the wage payment plan, including evaluation of its effectiveness. Collective negotiation including use of tripartite principles. Fundamentals of work organization and organization of working process. Working process, division of labour, fixing of job standards, and organisation of working hours.
Specification of an optimal number of workers and its connection to the labour performance in a working process.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be made familiar with possibilities of creation of wage payment plans in the corporate sphere including principles and realization of collective negotiation under the conditions in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, students will be cognizant of modern processes regarding organisation of a working process, work efficiency, application of modern job standardisation methods, evaluation of labour performance possibilities in a working process.

Prerequisites

Solution of equations and working out function graphs, basic knowledge of productive, technological and managerial functions within the company.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Conditions for awarding the course-unit credit:
- min. 66 % class attendance and participation in exercises ( i.e. participation in min. 4 exercises)
- submit a team project
- present the team project
- pass a written credit test (min. 50 % to pass) with a possibility of oral examination
The total evaluation of the course is half exercises/half written credit test weighted. It is needed to gain at least 50 points from exercises and written test to get the mark.
A 171-200 points.
B 151-170 points.
C 131-150 points.
D 111-130 points.
E 100-110 points.
F 99 and less.

Course curriculum

Topics of lectures are the following:
- Organisation of working process in the company
- Structure and goals of work organisation in working process.
- Effectiveness and organisation of brain-work and work of managerial staff
- Differences in the work organisations in foreign production units
- Main trends in work rationalisation at present
- Methodology of rationalisation studies
- Modern methods of job standardisation
- Evaluation of labour performance possibilities in working process
- Salary system in the company and its creation
- Salary functions and forms
- Labour performance quantification
The seminars are focused on practising the lectured topics and elaboration of concrete application tasks (both individually and in teams).

Aims

The main objective of the course for students is to master theoretical and methodical processes necessary for the creation of wage payment plans and for collective negotiation in the corporate sphere and organization of work of employees in productive and non-productive sphere including managerial staff. In addition, it is necessary to master specific features of working capacity measurement, principles applied for wage forms and determination of basic wage rates. Also discussed are the respective specific features of organisation of the working process, workplaces and working environment, as well as organisation of work of employees in productive and non-productive sphere including managerial staff.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Control of results and assessment of tasks assigned in seminars. In case of excused absence from seminars, the teacher can set an additional term for delivery of assigned tasks.
