Technological Aspects of Design and Retrofitting of Production Machines

FSI-GTCAcad. year: 2011/2012

The course completes the innovatory process introduced within the study programme of specialisation 23-03-8: Design of production machines and devices specialisation 01: Machining and forming machines. Students will be made familiar with the technological aspects of designing castings, welded pieces, die-castings, and machined components, and also of their finishing at up-to-date NC machines. Next, the students will learn how to assess wear and failures of production machines and how to operatively and economically propose their repair or replacement; everything in compliance with the European standards ISO 9000. The students will also get acquainted with presentations of works from the area of practical performance of retrofitting at the Institute of Production Machines, Systems, and Robotics, and namely with mechanical and electrical parts of production machines and their control systems.

Aims

The knowledge of students will be enriched through a new view of manufacturing process, logistics, and economy of an engineering company, and they will learn how to find their way round production process, repairs, and up-dating of machines and equipment. Next, they will learn the methods of performing the activities related to retrofitting and the selected methods will be practised.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Checking of knowledge in the exercises in the frame of the lectures. Checking attendance in the exercises. Absence may be in justified cases compensated for via special make-up work.
