European Law in the Industrial Practice

FSI-XEVAcad. year: 2011/2012

The interpretation of European legal regulations, technical specifications and management systems, inclusive of their applications in conformity assessment (testing), accreditation, metrology, and technical standardization. The above activities are developed with the emphasis on the period following the accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union (EU), including the harmonized controlled area, non-harmonized controlled area (national modification) as well as non-controlled (commercial) areas.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The understanding and identification of areas, which are problematic and the application of European rules in industrial practice i.e. area of mechanical, electronically and civil engineering.

Prerequisites

General knowledge of European Union. Knowledge of quality management.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Students take both oral and written examination. Evaluation: excellent (90-100 points), very good (80-89 points), good (70-79 points), satisfactory (60-69 points), sufficient (50-59 points), failed (0-49 points).

Aims

The course enables students a better orientation in difficult structure of laws and technical rules within EU with the emphasis on the benefits of a Czech subject and the decrease of possible risks.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

The attendance at seminars is compulsory. An alternative assignment may be given to students if the condition is not met (in justified cases).
