Computer Visualization and Animation 1

This course is aimed to gain fundamentals in the softwares Maxon Cinema 4D, Autodesk 3DS Max and Adobe Flash. A students will be able to create basic polygonal 3D models with accent on their animations and visualisations in softwares Maxon Cinema 4D and Autodesk 3DS Max. The Adobe Flash session is aimed to fundamentals in animation of 2D graphics.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course „Computer Modelling I“ concures to preview courses and intensify knowledge at the domain of 2D and 3D graphic. Anew it is aimed to making animations. Student is able to create an interactive-multimedial presentation and visualization of his/her own project.

Prerequisites

The course complements the courses „Computer Graphic - CorelDraw“ and "Computer Modelling - Rhinoceros 3D". The elements of work with 2D/3D graphic and knowledge of working with mentioned softwares are supposed.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graded course-unit credit requirements: attendance in lessons, meeting assigned projects deadlines, practical test verifying the knowledge of work with the software and creative work ability.
Resulting evaluation consists of evaluations on projects, tasks and a test. In total it will be possible to aquire 100 points. Resulting classification will be defined by the ECTS scale.
If some of the projects are awarded less than half of the maximum pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed".
According to the article No. 13 of Study and Examination Rules of Brno University of Technology ECTS evaluation degree scale is used. . If some of the projects are awarded less than 50 pts., final evaluation of the course is "failed". The course is evaluated with the following grades: ECTS EVALUATION DEGREES / PTS. RATING / NUMERIC RATING: A / 100 - 90 / 1 / Excellent; B /89 - 80 / 1,5 / Very good; C / 79 - 70 / 2 / Good; D / 69 - 60 / Satisfactory; E / 59 - 50 / Sufficient; F / 49 - 0 / 4 / Failed.

Aims

The aim of the course is to learn the fundamentals in the softwares Maxon Cinema 4D, Autodesk 3DS Max a Adobe Flash. A students will be able to create the realistic vizualizations with the elements of Maxon Cinema 4D and Autodesk 3DS Max. A Students will know how to make 2D objects, animations and concepts of building their Flash application. Students will get elementary knowledge of ActionScript and after completing all lessons will be able to create their own interactive multimedia presentation.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

The attendance in lectures is recommended. The attendance at seminars is controlled. Students have to be present in scheduled hours in the computer laboratory, work on given projects and wait for consultation, unless a lecturer gives other individual plan. The excuse of absence is possible only due serious reasons such as illness. Unexcused absence may jeopardise awarding the graded course-unit credit.

3rd Maxon Cinema 4D - scene - environment, lights, cameras, working with materials, basic mapping
4th Maxon Cinema 4D - Advanced Techniques for photorealistic rendering with GI modifiers, basic keyframe animation
5th Autodesk 3DS Max – introduction to Autodesk 3DS Max environment, the philosophy of work, starting a new project, the layout of the main tools, files and objects
