Course detail

Parametric Modeling - Inventor, Catia, Rhinoceros

FSI-ZM1Acad. year: 2011/2012

The goal of the course is make the acquaintance of common properties of CAD systems and to attach some practical experiences of 3D modeling of parts assemblies. Based on programs of Autodesk – the Inventor and Solidworks the students will acquired with solid design and of possible ways of design used in practice.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations. The course has intensive block instruction form scheduled in the first four weeks of the semester.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course-unit credit is awarded on the following conditions: active participation in the seminars, solution of additional tasks in case of longer excusable absence. Examination: in 5. week the student must pass the final test to complete the course. In the test the student has to prove knowledge of basic terms in area of virtual prototyping, computer graphics.

Aims

Explain important notions from areas of CAD systems, learn how to use 3D model programs in construction process. Generalize using conceptions from areas of CAD systems. Make accessible tools for students for usage in diploma work.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Participation in the exercises is obligatory and is controlled by the teacher. Absences can be compensated in exceptional cases and for serious reasons by mutual consent with course supervisor. Maximum of two excused absence without compensation are allowed.
