Working with Own Body

The students will gain knowledge and skills from a complex of exercises which are focused on the control of their own bodies. The students have to learn to control their bodies during their studies, subsequent training and preparation for the classified credit. The students will also gain as much practical experience as possible in working with their own bodies and the reaction of their bodies to regular training. The gained knowledge and skills are a prerequisite for quality work with clients and specialized control over their own feeling for movement.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The students will gain knowledge and skills from a complex of exercises which are focused on the control of their own bodies. Knowledge of human biology at the level of secondary school studies.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.


Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Awarding of credit:
For the award of a classified credit, active participation, submission of an exercise plan for a selected form of exercise (50 points) and the successful passing of a knowledge test (50 points) are required.

Form of the examination and the final classification of the subject:
Submission of an exercise plan for a selected form of exercise (50 points) and the successful passing of a knowledge test (50 points). In total, a maximum of 100 points can be obtained within the framework of classifications which is as follows:

Course curriculum

- There are no lectures for this subject.

- Correct posture.
- Core Training System.
- Breathing exercises (general, for pregnant women, for asthmatics, for senior citizens).
- Pilates (general, for pregnant women, for senior citizens).
- Outputs, practical exercises.
- Stretching.
- Functional gymnastics, small games, exercising with equipment, exercising on bossa equipment, balls, overball, flexibar (walking, running, jumping, flexibility development exercises, coordination exercises).
- The specifics (fundamentals) of work with one's own body for people with a weakened locomotive system, pregnant women, asthmatics, cardiac patients, obese people, diabetics and senior citizens, and sets of exercises.

Aims

The aim of the subject is to learn a complex of exercises focused on the control of one's own body, to gain experience from working with one's own body and its reactions to exercise, to develop the ability to reveal problems due to posture, to manage to find the causes of muscular imbalance, to suggest, choose and provide suitable relaxation, stretching and compensational exercises.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Active participation in practical lessons. Continuous preparation for practical lessons. Test of knowledge. Possible absence (official letter giving reason for absence) - substitution of tuition for more than one duly excused absence.
