The course is intended to teach English as a foreign language at general level. It follows up on the basic language knowledge and skills obtained at the previous stages of study.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be made familiar with general vocabulary for the workplace, as well as grammar structures for everyday communication at B1 level (intermediate).

Prerequisites

Course is intended for students who are familiar with the language at A2 level (elementary to pre-intermediate). It is a follow-up to the course AJ1B, successful completion of which is a necessary prerequisite for the course AJ2B.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course-unit credit is awarded on condition of having attended the seminars actively, worked out assigned tasks and passed a credit test. Final evaluation covers the student’s work in the exercises and the knowledge tested by the examination. The examination consists of a written and oral part. The exam corresponds to the B1 level according to the Common European Framework.

Aims

The course is intended to teach English as a foreign language at general level. Students learn basic grammar and lexical structures at B1 level (pre - intermediate-intermediate) necessary for everyday communication.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is systematically checked by the teacher, as well as students' systematic work. Absence may be in justified cases compensated for by the agreement with the teacher.
