Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will obtain the basic knowledge of personality in connection with surrounding environment and some sociological fundamentals of society life.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge in social sciences on the level of secondary school.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Students must pass 2 written tests (part psychology + part sociology) and must obtain the given point minimum in every test.

Course curriculum

Human personality, mental processes, perception, memory, vigilance, thinking. Mental qualities, temperament, character, abilities. Social communication, active listening in, strategy of conflict solution. Assertive behaviour, techniques of assertive behaviour. Typology of social groups, role, position, prestige, status, norms, values, social control, culture, socialisation. Contemporary Czech society. Sociology of family, work, work satisfaction. Practical applications of methods and techniques of sociological research (e.g. questionnaire etc.) . Analysis psychological aspects human behaviour in stress situations. Philosophy solving stress situation.Icebreakers of members of intervention units. Authorities implementing psychological preparation and solving psychological consequences extraordinary and crisis situation. Psychological operation.

Aims

The main objective of the psychological part of the course is to make students acquainted with basic personality dispositions i basic live, in extraordinary and stress situations, effecting working activities and with the most important social-psychological activities within the communication with surrounding environment.
The main objective of the sociological part is to provide students with sociological point of view considering the social and economical milieu and make them acquainted with basic sociological problems.
