Physics III

FCH-MCT_FYZ3Acad. year: 2011/2012

Microspic systems - elementary particles, interaction between them, (gravitational, electromagnetic, weak and strong). Macroscopic systems - interaction between elementary particles in atoms and between atoms (gases, liquids and solids). Radiation, flowing and conducting of heat in matter. Band theory of solids, electric properties of solids, concentration of free charges, electric conductivity. Using of integral transformations for describing of matter properties. Special and general theory of relativity.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will obtain deeper knowledge of modern part of physics, theory of physical field, wave and quantum physics. Introduce experimental methods used at this reason.

Prerequisites

Mathematics - basic of vector algebra, derivation, integration, improper and proper integral, linear differential equations of second order
Physics - basic knowledge from mechanics, theory of physical field, wave and quantum physics

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

lectures and exercises with support of e-learning

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Examination verifies the ability to communicate on asked theme (take a question and answer to them). The student can graduate the oral examination after giving of project.

Course curriculum

1. Electromagnetic field (electric and magnetic field, electric current)
2. Measurement of electric properties of bodies (steady state and transient measurement, impedance spectroscopy)
3. Measurement of optical properties of bodies (absorption, luminescence, photoconductivity, electroluminescence)
4. Thermal field (conduction, convection and radiation of heat)
5. Physical field (gravitational and electromagnetic field, field of weak and strong interaction, elementary particles, physics of space)

Work placements

Aims

The main aim of this subject is increasing of student knowledge at the reason of microscopic and macroscopic systems.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Subject materials are saved in BUT e-learning system - Moodle. Combined study students needs for knowledge of experiment problems visit experimental workplace before examination.
