Detection and decontamination

Principles detection of contamination components life environment with chemical agents, fissile products, bacteriological (biological) and toxins resources. Methods and instruments for detection and monitoring contamination of environment. Prediction of zone contamination, organization of monitoring (survey) and long - term monitoring. Organization of warning system. Decontamination components life environment, objects, materials, foodstuffs, persons and animals, its specialities. Organization decontamination and sanation at major accidents and after using of mass destruction weapons. Methods and instruments for decontamination, check of operation decontamination, organization changing and stock replenishment.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Understanding mechanisms of contamination and damage components of the life environment by chemical, biological and radioactive agents and substances.
Understanding principle of operation and methods for detection and decontamination.
Understanding agents and technical equipments to implemetation of detection and decontamination.

Prerequisites

Chemistry and technology of protect of the environment I, II.
Treatment with waste.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

The examination consists of written part only.
The evaluation consists of the level of knowledge of background of theory and practise from the area of detection and decontamination and creative approach to solve problems.

Aims

The aim of the course is to provide students possibilities of contamination by hazardous substances (Chem-Bio-Rad), the principles and methods of detection and decontamination.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Consultations during the term about 1 hour per week.
