Analytical Chemistry II

Physical aspects of analytical methods. Principles of selected instrumental methods-spectrometric and electroanalytical methods, their qualitative and quantitative aspects and practical examples. Principles of selected separation methods, principles of chromatographic and electromigration methods. Evaluation of analytical results. Basic of chemometry. Preparation and decomposition of inorganic, organic and biological samples for analysis.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Knowledge of selected instrumental and separation methods and their applications on solving of real analysical tasks.
Evaluation of analytical results and uncertainities. Sampling and preparation and decomposition of samples of various kind.

Analytical chemistry I.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course-unit credit in seminar is obtained on the base of successful passing of written tests (partial during semester, course.credit final).
The condition for enrolment to examination is obtaining course credit from seminar. Examination is oral. The knowledge of topics as well as creative approach is evaluated.

Analytical significance of instrumental methods.
Selected electroanalytical and spectrometric methods.
Principles of chromatographic and electromigration methods.
Evaluation of analytical results and calibration functions for relative methods.
Preparation and decomposition of real analytical samples.

Aims

The aim of the course is to give students overview of selected analytical methods and procedures used to solve real practical problems and to train students in the chemometrical evaluation of analytical results.
