Russian for Beginners 2/2

The course is for complete beginners in Russian. The material is based on developing the communicative competence, especially in listening comprehension and effective reading and writing skills. At the beginning, the ability to write in Russian alphabet is practised systematically. Within the course students are also informed about the country, its culture, customs and specifications. Practising the new material and developing communicative skills is emphasized.

Ability to write in Cyrillic and read it. Response adequately to heard and read situations. Mastering basic grammar structures and using them in speaking and writing activities. Ability to communicate in common everyday situations.

  1. Unit 1: introduction to Russian, first steps with the Cyrillic and pronunciation
  2. Practising writing skills in Cyrillic and pronunciation, basic language structures
  3. Further practising of basic patterns in speaking
  4. Unit 2: greetings, basic numerals, specifications of stress
  5. Meeting and introducing,intonation of questions and affirmative sentences
  6. Telephoning, making a date, specifications of forms of address
  7. Unit 3: giving personal information, verb conjugation in present tense, forming negative with verbs
  8. Making an invitation, thanking, apologizing; further numerals and the case of nouns coming after numerals
  9. Unit 4: expressing of enjoyment and wonder; female gender nouns, personal pronouns
  10. Explaining misunderstandings; future tense, further numerals
  11. Unit 5: more personal information; possessive adjectives, shifting stress with verbs
  12. Changing intonation according to the meaning of the sentence; verb conjugation; revision
  13. Autumn semester test written
