Test from lectures and basic bibliography.

Course curriculum

1. The book as an historical artifact.
2/ Book archaelogy.
3. The history of bokbinding (the development of binding structures from constructional and fucntional points of view.
4. Approaches to book conservation (ethical aspects).
5. The development of book conservation.
6. Analysis and reseach of book deposits. Selecting the appropriate conservation method.
7. Basic conservation methods.
8. Special conservation methods.
9. Documentation and conservation report.
10. Excrusion in two archives.
11. Excursion in two libraries.
