Original Abstract

This paper focuses on monitoring the influence of alternate freezing and thawing on three types of concrete with a strength class of C 30/37 – two of them were used in the construction of transportation structures in Brno, the third one serving as a comparison with the previous two. Of all these types of concrete, test prisms were made which were cyclically frozen and tested at regular intervals. Simultaneously we tested reference test specimens which were stored in water. The main objective was to determine and compare the values of dynamic and static elastic moduli during cyclic freezing and after reaching 150 freezing cycles. The non-destructive testing was carried out using the ultrasonic impulse method and resonance method.

Keywords

Concrete, elastic modulus, relative dynamic modulus, frost resistance, ultrasonic impulse method, resonance method.
