Original Abstract

Ettringite (Ca6Al2(SO4)3(OH)12 . 26H2O) is a mineral which can be prepared by a large number of method. In our case ettringite was prepared with using a solution of ammonium aluminium sulphate, calcium oxide (burnt-lime) and water [1]. Finally an ettringite suspension was processed by low-pressure filtration. Filtrate produced during ettringite preparation was investigated. During reaction ammonium is put out by calcium ions. The ammonia amount was studied by the formaldehyde titrimetric method [2]. The ammonia was determined in filtrates produced under different synthesis conditions. The author attempted to compare ettringite preparation methods according to ammonia contained in filtrate. The resultant amount of ammonia was compared with actual water quality standard.
