Original Abstract

One of the main problems in the area of power quality is voltage fluctuation that causes fluctuation of luminous flux of light sources and the disturbing light flicker can occur consequently. Varying loads can lead to such fluctuation of supply voltage and for historical reasons; this type of disturbance is viewed as the principal cause of light flicker. From another point of view, any voltage fluctuation results in a group of subharmonic and/or interharmonic components. With the constant increase of appliances based on power electronic components, the influence of directly generated sub- and interharmonic components is becoming more prevalent. At the same time the voltage fluctuation is viewed as the fluctuation of the RMS value, because an incandescent lamp is sensitive exactly to RMS value fluctuation. For the measurement of flicker is used method based on the evaluation of the response of the voltage fluctuation - reference incandescent bulb - human eye - brain scheme. So the flicker is derived from the voltage fluctuation. This system is implemented also in the UIE/IEC flickermeters. The paper deals with the analysis of magnitude and frequency of voltage fluctuation caused by interfered inter-harmonic and harmonic components, superimposed on the fundamental voltage.
