Original Abstract

The article deals with an examination of tooth root surface treated with various techniques utilizing variable pressure SEM. In conventional SEM, vacuum conditions cause a damage of organic substances in a tooth root and structure cracking due to evaporation of water in the sample. Variable pressure SEM conditions are capable to maintain mentioned samples undamaged. Nine freshly extracted single root teeth treated with ultrasound, curette and Er, Cs: YSGG laser were investigated in the experimental variable pressure SEM (AQUASEM-II). Obtained images clearly document differences in the applied treatments.
