Original Abstract

Composite materials are modern materials usable in many industrial branches.A development of high-performance composites is tightly bound with a designing of composite interphases. The interphase is a region intermediate to the fiber and the matrix, which are in a contact. This region includes the fiber coating and a part of the matrix affected by the presence of the coated fiber. Experimental and theoretical studies give evidence that properties of composite material are controlled by physical and chemical properties of the interlayer 1,2. An adhesion between reinforcement and its coating is very important mechanical parameter of the interphase. In the case of fiber reinforce composites an evaluating of the adhesion is relatively complicated. Therefore the coating as a thing film is prepared on planar substrates. Than a micro scratch tester technique is a possible way of an evaluating of the adhesion 3,4. The principal of the scratch test is as follows: The Rockwell ball or the diamond tip is driven over the film surface to produce a scratch in this film. The load on the ball (tip) is linearly increased and the value of the load, at which adhesion failure is detected, is known as the critical load between the film and the substrate 5.
