Original Abstract

Here we discuss the possibilities to utilize the table-top soft X-ray (46.9 nm) laser at the University of LAquila for surface ablation and subsequent chemical analysis of different material. The capability of this laser to create small-diameter ablation holes have been already demonstrated (Fig. 1). Further steps in order to characterize the ablation mechanism and to use LIBS or LA-ICP-MS for chemical analysis will be detailed.
