Original Abstract

The paper describes the comparison of diagnostic methods for detecting operation of piezoceramics in vibration sensors. This paper reviews the current trends in testing of piezoceramics. It begins with a discussion of the bases of piezoactivity, followed by an overview of the most commonly used piezoelectric ceramic. A discussion of the properties and applications piezoelectric crystals and additional piezoelectric ceramics is followed by a description of several sensor configurations prepared from bulk ceramics. An extensive review and comparison of piezoelectric properties of piezoceramics by diagnostic methods based on nondestructive connectivity is also presented. We conclude our discussion of configuration possibilities of several diagnostic methods with recent examples of and expected future developments in the area of piezoelectric sensors.
