Original Abstract

In the submission, an advanced theory of dielectric waveguides and solid state physics of bulk semiconductors is reviewed in order to design and model active semiconductor waveguides and antennas. The active transmission lines and radiators exploit the negative differential resistance of the bulk GaAs. The mathematical model of active devices is composed from the equations of electromagnetic and solid state physics under idealistic assumptions in order to achieve a simple model of electromagnetic wave propagation in excited semiconductor media. The mathematical model is numerically implemented using the finite element method and evaluated in COMSOL Multiphysics. Finally, the concept of rod active antennas using amplifying a semiconductor media is proposed and discussed.
