Original Abstract

Atomization process of twin-fluid atomizers is not well understood yet. In this study we focused particularly on effervescent atomizer. Insight into layout of the velocity field in the spray can improve our knowledge of different effects proceeding after mixture is discharged from the nozzle. The velocity field is studied using PDPA and stereoscopic PIV-PLIF. Influence of atomizer operation conditions on mean droplet velocity and on spatial and temporal variation of the droplet velocity is documented. An effect of different drop size classes on the velocity is evaluated as well.
