Original Abstract

Power polypropylene capacitors are an essential element of power converters and power quality conditioning equipment. Another major area of application is high power switching power supplies for powering drives. Real capacitors are not only representative of electrical capacitance, their parasitic parameters, especially the equivalent series inductance (ESL), can significantly affect the operation of switching power supplies. Conductive couplings are another important source of this inductance. Usually, a substitution scheme corresponding to a series resonant circuit is given for the capacitor, but by the measurements given in the paper, we can clearly see that ESL is frequency dependent, as is equivalent series resistance (ESR).
