The aim of the article is to point out basic characteristics and substance of chosen national quality award models. These models, namely the EFQM Model Excellence and the Malcolm Baldrige Model, are used as a basis for self-assessment activities whose importance has been increasing due to continuously growing competition in the present entrepreneurial environment.
