Original Abstract

Histone deacetylases (HDACs) are the key enzymes that are involved in the deacetylation of histone and non-histone proteins. HDACs aberrant expression and activity is linked with the regulation of various genes involved in cancer initiation and progression. Class I HDAC8 has been reported to be overexpressed in breast cancer and induces the estrogen receptor (ER), leading to breast cancer formation. This gives rise to find potential HDAC antagonist that can inhibit cell proliferation and apoptosis of cancer cells. In the current study, the focus is to find potential and novel HDAC inhibitor that has therapeutic effects against cancer using computational methods.
