Original Abstract

In this work, we present the performance assessment of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) schemes on iOS and Android platforms using the liboqs library. The experimental setup for both platforms is outlined, with details on how liboqs was incorporated into the applications. We focus on the schemes that are chosen to be standardized by the National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST). Our findings indicate that Dilithium is the most suitable signature scheme for all phases, while the Falcon signature scheme is a better choice for use cases requiring a fast verification phase. With regard to Key Encapsulation Mechanisms (KEMs), the Kyber scheme outperforms other KEM schemes in all aspects. We believe that our results could be beneficial for engineers and developers who consider substituting current asymmetric schemes by quantum-resistant schemes.
