Original Abstract

Hydrodynamic plain bearings represent an important member in combustion engines. They influence key parameters of power train units such as durability, wear-out, vibrations and noise. Their behavior is described by Reynolds differential equation. This equation is solved for several bearing states (about 60 eccentricities and 60 misalignment angles) prior to the dynamic analysis. The results are stored in databases of non-dimensional reaction forces. The aim of endeavor is to implement topical design model of plain bearing into the complex calculation model of combustion engine called virtual engine. Virtual engine is created in multi-body system, which is suitable for kinematical and dynamic simulation of very difficult mechanisms. Rigid but first of all flexible parts are used. Subject of interest are plain bearings which can work under various working conditions such as different gas force, bearing clearance and oil viscosity. Effect of oil supply type on oil pressure and oil flow is also included. Influence of these parameters is monitored on main bearing trajectories and bearing load polar diagrams.
