Original Abstract

Přesný odhad magnitud zemětřesení hraje důležitou roli v poskytování pomoci zasaženým oblastem. Jednou z technologií, kterou lze magnitudy nepřímo určovat jsou Globální navigační satelitní systémy (GNSS). Článek se zabývá určením magnitud čtyř vybraných zemětřesení na Aljašce. GNSS data z 143 stanic byla zpracována metodou Precise Point Positioning. Vypočtené magnitudy jsou porovnány s jejich referenčními hodnotami z U. S. Geological Survey (USGS). Průměrný rozdíl od referenčních hodnot je 0,05 MW. Přesnost odhadů magnitud vypočtených z GNSS dat je průměrně 0,22 MW.

English abstract

Accurate estimation of earthquake magnitudes is important in providing relief to affected areas. One of the technologies that can indirectly determine magnitudes is Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). The article deals with determining the magnitudes of four selected earthquakes in Alaska. GNSS data from 143 stations were processed using the Precise Point Positioning method. The calculated magnitudes are compared with their reference values from the U. S. Geological Survey (USGS). The average difference from the reference values is 0.05 MW. The accuracy of magnitude estimates calculated from GNSS data is, on average, 0.22 MW.
