Original Abstract

The oscillatory wind waves represent the most common hydrodynamic load for water structures and reservoir banks. The waves destabilize the banks, which can endanger valuable areas around the reservoir as well as the embankment dam. In order to evaluate the degree of threat posed to the banks by waves, maps were compiled, making it possible to plan individual protections. The paper describes the procedure of compiling a wind waves threat map for the lake in Hulín, taking into account the effect of wind, waves, soil type and its status.
