Original Abstract

Main task of each production system is to generate maximum possible production. There are strong interactions between production and maintenance planning. This paper deals with an integrated lot sizing and maintenance planning problem. This problem consists in determining the lot sizes and preventive maintenance actions that satisfy resource constraints and the external demands for items and minimize the total setup, production, inventory holding and maintenance (both preventive and corrective) cost over the planning horizon. We propose a method for solving this problem based on genetic algorithms.
