Original Abstract

The immobilizing, barrier and transport properties of different humic substances (selectively blocking carboxylic functional groups) with ionic compounds (organic dyes) were studied by innovative diffusion cell techniques in combination with advanced spectroscopic techniques. The interactivity and barrier properties of humic substances with ionic substances were studied in supporting hydrogel media (non-reactive hydrogel), which can provide us more useful information about the immobilizing properties of humic substances in contrast with sorption batch experiments. The diffusion cell techniques can be used as universal reactive-mapping tool for different humic substances immobilizing various types of compounds (e.g. pesticides, surfactants, etc.).
