Original Abstract

This article describes a method that enables embedding watermarks into audio signals. The watermark embedding technique is designed such that the embedded watermark does not audibly damage the quality of original data but is simultaneously robust enough as regards the methods of audio signal processing and deliberate attempts focused on removing it. The watermark embedding process uses a pseudorandom generator to define positions in the time-frequency space in which, using a suitable modification of the magnitude components of the signal, the embedded watermark is encoded in the MCLT (Modulated Complex Lapped Transform) domain. The extraction algorithm of the embedded watermark does not require knowing the original audio data for its working.
