Original Abstract

This paper deals with real-time simulation of a machine using virtual reality. This project uses directly OpenGL API, ODE engine and X3D format for machine representation. Collision detection methods, their principle and features are presented. The core of this work is the created machine simulator which uses the appropriate collision method. This simulator is controlled using Modbus TCP and acts as a Modbus slave device. Simulation process and some drawbacks are described. Simulating of box carrying on the belt is discussed and the simplest method is implemented while believable behaviour is achieved. Using ODE physics, the gravity and moving box dynamics are also simulated. The created virtual machine simulating a model of a trunk sorting machine is presented.
