Original Abstract

Refractory metal (including valve metal) oxides possess various useful properties, such as superconductivity, magneto-resistance, catalytic activity, electroсhromism, gas sensitivity and many more. Nanostructuring of metal oxides is an active and competitive area of research as it offers unprecedented opportunities for the development of advanced materials and microsystem components at the nanoscale with improved performances or substantially enhanced properties. Alignment of nanostructures over a large area of flat and patterned substrates is a prerequisite to use their collective properties, for example, in gas sensors, energy conversion, distribution and storage microdevices.
