Original Abstract

Increasing the number of lanes in steep ascent and descent is designed due to the decreasing speed of slow and very slowmoving vehicles affects the smoothness of traffic flow and safety. But even in such arrangement lanes there are risks that ca n cause traffic accidents, especially at the point of lane reduction. A common problem is improper placement of the point of lane reduction on the horizon. This article analyzes the traffic accidents in this type of arrangement, and assesses the main causes of accidents, or the accumulation of accidents in particular place. Further offers information about the difference between the speed of the vehicle categories and the number of overtaken vehicles on two-lane sections and sections with increased number of lanes.
