Original Abstract

This work provides correlation between updated Wallaces zoogeographic regions and phylogenetic trees of rabbits (non-pelagic mammals of Leporidae family).Rabbits are present in all broad-scale realms except of Madagascar and hares (other genera of Leporidae family) can be eventually added. We used 12S rRNA sequence of mitochondrial DNA for theiravailability and reasonable length (~800 bp). Phylogenetic trees were constructed using fast minimum evolution and/or neighbor joining algorithm. Evolutionary distance was computed by Tamura-Nei model.
