Original Abstract

This study shows the integration of the pre-design research into the hand tool design development. It describes factual improvement of ergonomic, technological and marketing aspects of new hand tool by comparison with the product formed by the styling process. The paper includes the description of the hand tool development from the definition of its requirements to creation of the physical mock-up. The summary of achieved benefits confirms the effectivity of the extended pre-design research to increase added value of the hand tool design and to improve its competitiveness.
