Original Abstract

Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films for the anode contacts in organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) should have low work function as a hole injector into organic semiconducting polymers and the flat surface to achieve lateral homogeneous electrical field in order to eliminate breakdowns of OLEDs1. For the well-defined interface to subsequent grown layers, adsorbed water should be removed. Several methods for various surface treatments are published2,3. Etching and wet cleaning affects surface properties but the best results in smoothness improvement and work function increasing was achieved by the oxygen plasma treatment.
