Primárním cílem publikace je vysvětlit základní principy chování předpjatých betonových prvků a konstrukcí. V úvodu práce jsou popsány vlastnosti používaných materiálů, jsou vysvětleny základy technologie a jsou uvedeny předpínací systémy a postupy nejčastěji používané v předpjatém betonu. Podstatnou částí skripta jsou kapitoly věnující se určení velikosti předpětí a účinků předpětí na staticky určité a staticky neurčité konstrukce metodou ekvivalentního zatížení. V návaznosti je velmi podrobně vysvětlena statická analýza postupně budovaných předpjatých konstrukcí. V práci je rovněž řešena mezní únosnost předpjatých betonových prvků namáhaných osovou silou, ohybem, smykem a kroucením a dále analýza kotevní oblasti s odkazy na základy mezní plastické analýzy metodou příhradové analogie popsané v dodatku. V závěrečné kapitole jsou shrnuty principy posouzení mezních stavů použitelnosti.

Primary objective of the book is to explain basic principles of the behaviour of prestressed concrete elements and structures. Material properties are described, background of the technology is explained, and prestressing systems are given in the book introduction. Chapters devoted to the determination of the amount and effects of prestressing on both statically determinate, and indeterminate structures using equivalent load method make substantial part of the book. In close link to that structural analysis of step-by-step constructed prestressed structures is clarified. Also ultimate limit state of prestressed concrete elements loaded by axial force, bending moment, shear, and torsion are analysed. The analysis of the anchorage zone is described with the reference to the basis of plastic analysis, and strut and tie method given in the appendix. The principles of the check of serviceability limit states are summarized in the final chapter.
