Original Abstract

This work focuses on simulation of production of wax patterns for Investment Casting technology. Simulation is provided by virtual optimization of manufacturing and reduction of total time and financial demands. The study is solved in two main stages. In the first phase of the study wax patterns were made by using one of the Rapid Prototyping technologies. The wax blend was poured into a silicon mould in vacuum chamber. Thanks to this practical manufacture of patterns, critical areas of this manufacturing technology were found. Simulation of filling the silicone mould was done for the same pattern. Necessary parameters were specified and validation between real process of pouring and computer model was done. Good agreement was reached. The second part of the work comes from the demand of foundries, which use technology of wax blends injections into metal mould for pattern creation. The simulation of injection should noticeably help to make perfect pattern. By using this simulation it will be possible to optimize the whole technology of injection, e.g. shape of the mould, position and shape of the inlet channel and air holes and to optimize parameters of injection. It will be possible to visualize process of filling, cooling, and stress distribution and to predict the places susceptible to defects.
