Original Abstract

The ArcGIS software offers number of deterministic and statistical interpolation methods. This paper deals with the application of these methods in practical problems of groundwater flow. The methods are used in specific procedures of data pre-processing as well as post-processing of data calculated by numerical models of groundwater flow. Principle of application of mentioned interpolation methods rest in creating of continuous distribution of examined variable (e.g. groundwater surface, impermeable layer, etc.) based on values of discrete data (e.g. boreholes, nodes of calculation grid or mesh, etc.) measured in the area of interest. The paper addresses mainly an interpolation methods included in extensions 3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst a Geostatistical Analyst.
