Galvanized and galvannealed zinc coatings belong to the most efficient means of corrosion protection. These coatings are made by immersing the steel in molten zinc. During this process up to four intermetallic phases are formed: (FeZn13), (FeZn10), (Fe5Zn21) and (Fe3Zn10). The results of Mössbauer spectroscopy measurements on large set of samples prepared at various conditions in bath molten of pure zinc while the substrate was ULC steel are reported. Samples were prepared at hot-dip simulator RHESCA and spectra were obtained using Mössbauer spectroscopy in transmission geometry (source 57Co in Rh matrix, calibration against alfa-Fe). Selected samples were also measured using the detection of conversion electrons (substrate steel side and coating side of the interface). Parameters of zeta phase were found to be independent on the preparation conditions and obtained values are the same as reported recently . Parameters of delta phase were quite different at sample prepared by short dipping without annealing from the equilibrium ones, the stabilizing effect of longer dipping times and longer annealing times was clearly observable. Higher annealing temperatures were enhancing the growth of gamma and gamma1 phases resulting in samples with complex phase composition. In their spectra three doublets of delta phase, two doublets of gamma phase and three doublets of gamma1 phase have been identified.
