Original Abstract

The statistical length scale, the spatial measure of variability of material parameters can act as a localization limiter of the failure process in quasi-brittle materials. This fact has been utilized in the formulation of an adaptive strategy governed by the correct reflection of stress redistribution in the inelastic zone occuring during the failure process.
