Original Abstract

This paper presents the results of a risk assessment in a case study, within the TECHNEAU project, that was performed on the drinking water supply system of Březnice town, located in central Bohemia, the Czech Republic. The system uses three groundwater sources and it supplies population about 3 500. The risk analysis in this case study covers the system from source to service connection and was focused on identification of all hazardous events which may influence the quality of distributed water, either in terms of non-compliance with drinking water quality standards or risks to compromise consumers health or satisfaction. Four different approaches were combined to identify the hazards and related undesired events that may occur in the system. For each event, the likelihood and consequence have been assessed using a scale of 5 categories - a risk matrix suggested by the WHO.
