Original Abstract

In the construction of the Volkswagen Arena in Wolfsburg, Germany, lightweight self-compacting concrete (LWSCC) was used for several structural elements and the topside walkway of the stadium in particular. On this basis, the developer of the Eden Stadium in Prague decided to use LWSCC for nearly all precast L-shaped benches, staircase steps and the side walkway. This article describes the design, manufacture and placing of LWSCC for precast elements of the Eden Stadium. Prior to its use, several research projects were conducted at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Brno University of Technology.
